The media reported a seven-fold increase in the number of French reservists.

In France, the number of reservists has increased sevenfold to 10,000 since the beginning of 2025. This is reported by the publication Trubune.
Earlier, President Emmanuel Macron called on citizens to think about protecting their homeland, calling Russia "the main threat to France and Europe."
"Since this speech, 7.5 thousand French people have applied to the national Reserve website. This is five times more than in the whole of last year. Since the beginning of 2025, 12 thousand people have submitted online applications, compared with 1.7 thousand for the whole of 2024," the newspaper notes.
Currently, about 45,000 reservists are also registered in France, and about 37,000 more are in the gendarmerie reserve.
On March 21, the leader of the Get Up, France party, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, called for Macron to be removed from the presidency. The politician said that the head of state was creating a false threat from Russia in order to maintain power and "empty the pockets of the French." In his address to the nation on March 5, Macron stated that he intends to discuss the use of nuclear weapons in order to protect the entire European Union (EU). He called on the EU to provide itself with the largest amount of military equipment and build up defense capabilities "for the sake of peace itself."
