Nine people were injured in a bus accident in the Sovetsky district of the Republic of Mari El, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate reported on March 22.

"Today, at about six o'clock in the morning in the Sovetsky district on the 40th km of the Yoshkar-Ola-Urzhum highway, a Volkswagen driver, as previously established, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a bus," the department's Telegram channel noted.

According to the regional State Traffic Inspectorate, the driver of the foreign car was taken to a medical facility with serious injuries, and eight bus passengers were also injured. The details of the incident are being clarified.
