They don't want Ukraine to join NATO. This was announced on March 20 by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a press conference following a working visit to Norway.
"Unfortunately, we are not accepted into NATO. We really really want to, we think it would solve a lot of problems. But there's nothing to talk about. The United States, as the main ally in NATO, does not support Ukraine in NATO. As of today, this is the case," the newspaper quotes him as saying "Страна.иа ".
Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Michael Waltz on March 16 called Ukraine's membership in NATO unlikely. According to him, not only the American side agrees with this position, but also other member states of the alliance.
On March 14, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that Ukraine's accession to the alliance was no longer on the agenda.
