Trump pointed out the need to maintain relations with Russia

The United States needs to have good relations with Russia, as it has the largest and most valuable territory rich in minerals. This was announced on March 19 by the American leader Donald Trump.
"We should deal with Russia. They currently have the largest land area — more than China. They have 11 time zones. You can fly through 11 time zones from one side to the other. They have very valuable land," he said in an interview with the Breibart portal.
Trump added that if Washington restored economic relations with Moscow, it could weaken Russia's ties with China. However, this is not what the United States is seeking at all, but the restoration of its own relations with the Russian Federation.
The media notes that the White House report on Trump's telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 18 stated that both leaders expressed interest in strengthening economic ties between their countries.
"This includes huge economic deals and geopolitical stability when peace is achieved," the article says.
On the evening of March 18, Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation. During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, and also discussed a wide range of areas in which the United States and Russia could establish cooperation.
Experts interviewed by Izvestia said on March 20 that the trade turnover between America and Russia, after negotiations between the leaders of the two countries, could increase 1.5–2 times by the end of 2025, to $6-8 billion. Currently, the volume of mutual trade between Russia and the United States is small. Last year, it amounted to $3.5 billion, the lowest since 1992. For comparison, the trade turnover between Russia and Europe was 40 times higher last year — $141.5 billion, and with China it amounted to $245 billion.
