While Russia and the United States intend to resolve the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible, Ukraine most likely will not comply with the terms of the agreements. On Tuesday, March 18, Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel told Izvestia.

"[US President Donald] Trump says that it is possible to negotiate with [Russian leader Vladimir] Putin, but the question is whether Ukraine will fulfill these conditions. This is always the first and most important moment," the expert noted, commenting on the telephone conversation between Trump and Putin.

He clarified that key topics are currently being discussed between the two responsible states, Russia and the United States, including a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine. However, according to him, the problem lies in the fact that the Ukrainian side may not adhere to the agreements.

Ukraine's position on this issue creates a dangerous situation for the whole world, Poppel stressed.

"And I have a big fear that even if Putin and Trump reach an agreement at the highest level, Ukraine will not fulfill these conditions later. Because there are too many madmen, corrupt officials, nationalists and criminals in power there," he concluded.

The Russian President and the American leader had a telephone conversation earlier that day. During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, and also discussed a wide range of areas in which the United States and Russia could establish cooperation.

In addition, Putin supported Trump's idea of a mutual refusal of the Russian Federation and Ukraine from strikes on energy infrastructure for 30 days and immediately gave the Russian military the appropriate command.
