The Statue of Liberty will never be transferred to France. It is thanks to the United States that the French do not speak German today. This was announced on March 17 by White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt during a briefing broadcast on the YouTube channel of the residence of the President of the United States.

"My advice to this unnamed low—level French politician is to remind them that it is only thanks to the United States of America that the French do not speak German now, so they should be very grateful to our great country," she said.

In this way, Leavitt commented on the demand of the MEP from France, Rafael Glucksman, to return the Statue of Liberty to the United States.

Earlier, on March 10, the grandson of former French President General Charles de Gaulle, Pierre de Gaulle, told Izvestia that the country had lost its independence and sovereignty due to the incompetence of the authorities. According to him, the question of the legitimacy of French leader Emmanuel Macron is brewing.
