- The NYT has learned of the US intention to impose entry restrictions on citizens of 43 countries

The administration of US President Donald Trump is going to introduce new restrictions on entry to the country for citizens of 43 countries, including Russia and Belarus. This was reported on March 14 by the American newspaper The New York Times, citing officials familiar with these plans.
"The Trump administration is considering the possibility of imposing a new travel ban on citizens of 43 countries in the United States, which will be broader than the restrictions imposed during President Trump's first term," the material says.
According to the newspaper, the State Department has compiled a draft list of states divided into three categories.: "red", "orange" and "yellow". The "red" list includes 11 countries whose citizens will be "categorically prohibited from entering the United States." It includes Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.
The orange list includes 10 countries: Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan. Within the framework of this list, wealthy citizens may be allowed entry, but not persons traveling on immigration or tourist visas.
The "yellow" list includes 22 countries, which will be given 60 days to eliminate the "identified deficiencies", otherwise, the country may be moved to the "red" or "orange" category. Such problems may include the failure of the United States to provide information about incoming travelers, as well as inadequate security measures when issuing passports. This list mainly includes countries in Africa and the Caribbean.
According to the newspaper, the draft of new entry restrictions is being developed by diplomats and security personnel. They also make recommendations on revising the list of countries for political reasons.
Earlier, on March 12, the Reuters news agency reported that immigration detention centers in the United States were filled to capacity. The publication says that the Trump administration is currently looking for the possibility of creating more beds.
On March 5, the NYT reported on growing frustration in the White House administration with the pace of the deportation process of illegal migrants from the United States. At the same time, it was noted that before that, Trump was pleased with the progress in reducing the number of border crossings to a historical minimum.
