Matvienko positively assessed the work of the Accounts Chamber of Russia

Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko positively assessed the results of the work of the Accounting Chamber of Russia for 2024, and also noted the change in approaches in the department's activities with the arrival of Boris Kovalchuk as chairman of the body. Matvienko stated this on March 14 during a plenary session of the Federation Council, where Kovalchuk spoke about the results of the work of federal auditors over the past year.

"Now we need to improve the efficiency of all ministries and departments, spending public funds, property, and so on, and the Accounting Chamber is reorganizing its work in this way, fulfilling both the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation and our recommendations, which are necessarily taken into account in the work, starting with the planning of inspections. Discipline has increased, strictness has increased, and organization has increased," Matvienko is quoted as saying on the Federation Council's website.

Matvienko noted that effective work has been carried out to transform the Accounting Chamber, as well as to increase the level of its activities. She added that there are good indicators of the return of funds to budgets of all levels, the effectiveness of inspections is increasing. In addition, more coordinated work is underway with the control and accounting authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Earlier in the day, Kovalchuk said that the deficit of regional budgets in Russia had decreased sixfold as of the beginning of 2025 compared to the previous year. According to him, last year the growth of regional incomes was more than 10%, and the growth of expenses was about 10.3%. Thus, consolidated budget revenues amounted to 24.5 trillion rubles. By the end of 2024, the total budget deficit of the regions amounted to almost 300 billion rubles, which indicates that the situation is balanced.

In addition, the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber said that the work on organizing the provision of technical means for the rehabilitation of participants in a special military operation was carried out efficiently.
