In the Verkhovna Rada, a group of deputies proposed a project to erect a monument to the first president of the United States, George Washington, in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, according to information on the website of the Ukrainian parliament.

According to the published data, the bill No. 13066 was registered on Monday, March 10, and submitted for consideration on the same day. Most of the initiators of this bill are members of the Servant of the People party.

There is no detailed information about the draft law.

The Ukrainska Pravda newspaper reported on February 25 that the Poltava authorities had dismantled a monument to the Russian Emperor Peter I. Then the local authorities declared that the future of the city "belongs to Ukrainian heroes and European figures."
