Nebenzia reported on cooperation with the United States on the Syrian issue


Russia and the United States are cooperating on the Syrian issue. Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzia told reporters on March 10.
"Yes," he replied to a question before the closed—door consultations on Syria at the UN Security Council.
Nebenzia said that within the framework of the consultations, which were convened at the joint request of Moscow and Washington, they will discuss the situation in Syrian Latakia.
Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the organization, announced on March 9 the request of the Russian Federation and the United States for emergency consultations of the UN Security Council on the situation in Syria.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 10 that Russia was deeply concerned about the violence that was taking place in Syria during the clashes. He stressed that the Kremlin sees the need for urgent consideration of this issue and work to stop violence in the country as soon as possible.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on March 8 that 134 civilians, including at least 13 women and five children, were killed in clashes in Banias, Latakia and Jableh.
