Rubio announced plans to deport Hamas supporters from the United States

Supporters of the Palestinian Hamas movement will be deported from the United States, and their visas and residence permits will be revoked. This was announced on March 9 by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"We will cancel the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so that they can be deported," he wrote to the X network (ex. Twitter).

Earlier, on March 5, it was reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump is conducting non-public direct negotiations with Hamas on the release of American hostages held in Gaza and the possibility of a deal to end the conflict. Adam Beler, the US President's special envoy for hostage affairs, has held several meetings with Hamas representatives in recent weeks in Doha.
