Russian companies are negotiating with the Moroccan side on joint projects in the field of agricultural technologies, and initiatives in the field of land reclamation, irrigation and digitalization of the agricultural sector are being discussed. This was reported to Izvestia by the Russian Embassy in the kingdom.

"A number of Russian companies are already closely cooperating with Moroccan partners in this field (agrotechnology. — Ed.). Projects related to irrigation, land reclamation and digitalization of agriculture are being considered," the diplomatic mission said.

Last year, Russia became the leader in wheat exports to Morocco, surpassing France, which was considered the kingdom's largest partner. In 2024, the Russian Federation exported three times more agricultural products to Morocco than a year earlier.

"According to available data, last season Morocco imported 1.4 million tons of barley, including from Russia ― only 170 thousand tons (slightly more than 10% of the import structure)," the embassy said.

In February, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at the Gulfood 2025 international exhibition in Dubai that the trade turnover of agricultural products between Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) doubled in January this year compared to the first month of last year.
