US President Donald Trump has cooled towards the UK after its King Charles III met Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky at his residence. This was reported on March 9 by the Daily Mail (DM) newspaper, citing sources.

The US president's allies made it clear to British officials in America that the photos of the king with the Ukrainian leader made him feel "less special" in connection with the monarch's invitation to visit the UK on a state visit.

According to the newspaper, at the same time, American diplomats in the British government were told that Charles III "independently decides with whom to meet." Washington has no right to tell the king that Zelensky should not be received, London noted.
