No one has threatened Ukraine with disconnection from the Starlink satellite communication system, there are no such plans. Without her, Kiev would have lost the conflict. This was announced on March 9 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).

This is how he responded to the publication of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who stated that Starlink in Ukraine is paid for by the Polish Ministry of Digitalization and costs about $50 million per year. If the American company SpaceX, which manages this satellite system, turns out to be an unreliable supplier, Warsaw will have to look for a replacement, he added.

"It's just fiction. No one threatened to disconnect Ukraine from Starlink," Rubio wrote.

He added that without the satellite system, Kiev would have lost the conflict.

The head of the US Department of Public Efficiency (DOGE), SpaceX founder Elon Musk, in turn, said that Poland pays only a small cost of Starlink services, and nothing will be able to replace this system. In addition, he confirmed Rubio's statement about the absence of plans to disconnect Kiev from this system.

Earlier in the day, Musk wrote on Twitter that his Starlink system is the "backbone of the Ukrainian army," and its front line will collapse if this system is disabled.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on March 8 that officials in the European Union are looking for alternative satellite communications options for Ukraine. Four major operators from Luxembourg, Spain, Great Britain and France are negotiating, the newspaper said.
