Vilfand named the reason for the warming in the European part of Russia

The scientific director of the hydrometeorological center, Roman Vilfand, told RIA Novosti on March 9 that the weather in the European part of Russia was three to four degrees higher due to the lack of snow.
"The lack of snow is a factor that contributes to the high temperature. If advection of these air masses had been observed with the underlying surface covered with snow, the temperature would have been three to four degrees lower than it is now," Wilfand said.
He stressed that if the earth were covered with even a small snow cover now, the temperature would drop. According to the expert, the sun would not help either, since its rays are reflected from the snow.
On March 9, forecasters predicted up to 11 degrees Celsius in Moscow and partly cloudy weather with no precipitation. In the Moscow region, the daytime air temperature will range from +7 to +12 degrees, and at night — up to -4 degrees.
