The United States rejected Canada's proposal to create a task force that would monitor a "shadow fleet" carrying, as they say in the West, Russian oil. This was reported by Bloomberg on March 8.

It is clarified that during the negotiations on the formulation of a joint statement on maritime issues, the United States insists on strengthening the wording regarding China and softening the wording regarding Russia.

In addition to vetoing Canada's proposal to establish a task force to monitor sanctions violations, the draft G7 statement, which the agency reviewed, shows that the United States insisted on removing the word "sanctions" in the section on Russia.

At the same time, the United States insists on stricter language regarding some of China's actions.

On this day, representatives of the United States during the negotiations of the G7 countries called for a softening of the wording describing the sanctions restrictions against Russia.

On March 7, the State Duma assessed the words of US President Donald Trump about the possible strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation. MP Dmitry Novikov stressed that the US leader definitely cannot be called a politician with a pro—Russian position, and the accusations against him in this case are "pure populism, political technology, struggle."
