Washington wants a dialogue with Moscow and Beijing to get rid of nuclear weapons. This was announced on Friday, March 7, by US President Donald Trump, answering questions from reporters in the Oval Office.

The Head of State recalled that similar negotiations had already been conducted during his first term as president. According to Trump, he was very close to achieving a denuclearization program with the Russian Federation, and also discussed this issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He, in turn, welcomed the proposals on nuclear disarmament, the US president said.

"But bad things happened, there were elections that were rigged. And we had to come back four years later. But I would really like to start these reflections," Trump said at the White House, the broadcast was posted on the Fox News YouTube channel.

Earlier, on February 19, the American leader confirmed his intention to negotiate with Russia and China on reducing the number of nuclear warheads. He stressed that the international community should not allow the use of nuclear weapons. Trump also said that cooperation between the United States and Russia on nuclear disarmament was successful during his first term as president.
