The United States demands that Ukraine agree to a quick cease-fire with the Russian Federation as a condition for signing a deal on minerals. This was reported on March 6 by Bloomberg, citing sources.

As reported in the article, Washington has made it clear that US President Donald Trump is ready to finalize the natural resources agreement, which was suspended after his quarrel with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval Office last week, if the Ukrainian leader agrees to real steps towards a truce and negotiations with Moscow.

"Several Trump administration officials have said in recent days that the minerals deal is a crucial component and a step towards implementing the US president's plan to bring peace to Ukraine," the agency said.

It is clarified that the Trump administration suggested that in order to reach a ceasefire agreement, Ukraine would have to make territorial concessions and renounce membership in NATO. In addition, it is not clear whether the United States will provide security guarantees beyond those related to the minerals agreement.

Earlier, on March 5, during his speech to Congress, Trump said that the Ukrainian leader was ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible in order to achieve long-term peace. Also, according to the politician, Ukraine is ready to sign a mining deal with the United States at any time.
