Belousov got acquainted with the work of the nuclear center in Sarov


Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov visited the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) in Sarov. This was announced on March 6 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the country.
"The head of the Russian Defense Ministry got acquainted with the activities of the nuclear center, where research is carried out on installations and stands with unique characteristics, visited the laser test site and the experimental site of the center," the ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that Belousov was presented with developments in the field of digital, supercomputer and laser technologies of the center.
In addition, at the end of the working trip, the Minister of Defense held a meeting with the leadership of the center, where he expressed confidence that in the near future the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will be equipped with new developments.
Earlier, on January 30, Grigory Mashkov, the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that Russia might face the issue of building up its nuclear and missile arsenals. He noted that the development of the US global missile defense system "puts an end" to the prospects for reducing strategic offensive weapons and maintaining strategic stability on the same terms.
