The UK has lifted sanctions against 24 Syrian organizations, including the central bank of Syria and oil companies. This decision, made on Thursday, also includes the unfreezing of their assets. The agency wrote about this on March 6 Reuters.

As reported in in a document posted on the website of the Ministry of Finance of the United Kingdom, the oil companies Al Furat, Deir Ez-Zur, Mahrukat, Ebla, General Petroleum Corporation (GPC), Overseas Petroleum Trading, and Syria Trading Oil were excluded from the list. Earlier, on February 24, The EU has suspended sanctions against Syria in the fields of energy and transport. The Council also decided to exclude five organizations from the list of individuals subject to freezing of funds and economic resources, introduce exceptions for the establishment of banking relations between Syrian banks and financial institutions in the territories of the member states and extend the application of the humanitarian exclusion indefinitely.

The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, reported on January 27 on the approval of a roadmap by the foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries for the phased lifting of sanctions restrictions against Syria. At the same time, she warned that Europe could re-impose sanctions if the actions of the new Syrian authorities were "wrong."
