In the presidential administration USA Donald Trump's frustration with the pace of the deportation of illegal migrants from the country is growing. This was reported on March 5 by The New York Times (NYT).

"Almost every week since taking office, President Trump has called Thomas D. Homan, who is responsible for implementing his immigration program, asking for an update on mass deportations. <..."Homan's typical response serves as a kind of reality check for a president whose campaign promise to deport millions of people is facing practical difficulties," the newspaper writes.

In an interview with the publication, Homan said that he had called on Trump to increase the number of arrests, the pace of which, in his opinion, was "not high enough."

"Frustration is growing within the administration with the pace of arrests and deportations, even as Mr. Trump mobilizes all federal government forces to support his mission to conduct the largest deportation operation in U.S. history," the NYT reports.

The United States has conducted nearly 23,000 arrests over the past month. At the same time, the pace of deportations and expulsions has not kept pace with the number of detainees who need to be detained. This situation severely depletes the resources of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"Trump has so far been pleased with the progress in reducing the number of border crossings to a historic low. But the pace of deportations has become a source of annoyance, in particular, for Mr. Homan," the newspaper writes.

February 23 сообщалось that the administration of US President Donald Trump is instructing the Immigration and Customs Police to track down and deport migrant children who crossed the border unaccompanied by their parents. According to the government, since 2019, more than 600,000 immigrant children have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border unaccompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
