- The Russian Ambassador pointed out the need for Armenia to choose between the EU and the EAEU

Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin stated that the country cannot simultaneously be a member of two organizations — the European Union (EU) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The diplomat said this on March 4 in an interview with the 24news.
"Initially, the Russian side put all the dots on the I: either the EU or the EAEU, and it is impossible to be there. And this is not the position of the Russian side, but a matter of objective reality, because a state cannot be a member of two customs unions at the same time," Kopyrkin stressed. The diplomat also pointed out that economic cooperation with Russia and the EAEU is one of the key factors in the country's development.
"What will happen in the EU is a matter of the future. So far, the dynamics of trade turnover between Armenia and the EU is negative," the ambassador said.
On March 3, the Standing Committee on European Integration of the Armenian Parliament postponed the discussion of the bill in the second reading on the beginning of the process of the country's accession to the European Union. The deputies have not yet been able to coordinate with the authors of the document the amendments introduced by the government.
