The Palestinian Hamas movement has expressed disagreement over the extension of the first phase of the agreement with by Israel on the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on March 2 by the representative of the group, Mahmoud Mardavi, to the Al Jazeera.

It clarifies that under no circumstances will Hamas advocate an extension and will require the Israeli side to follow the original agreements and launch the second stage of the deal.

In addition, the representative of the movement clarified that the hostages will be released only if all the original terms of the agreement are fulfilled as stipulated in the contract.

Earlier that day, it became known that The IDF has suspended humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip after Hamas' refusal to accept the plan USA to continue negotiations. It was noted that such a decision was made by the government in coordination with the administration of the American president Donald Trump.

The day before, Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that Hamas negotiators were unable to convince the Israeli delegation to proceed with the discussion href="https://iz.ru/1847129/2025-03-01/smi-soobshchili-o-neudachnykh-peregovorakh-po-vtoromu-etapu-soglasheniia-po-gaze"> the second stage of the ceasefire agreement.
