A man who killed people at a bus stop in Nizhny Novgorod was detained

Law enforcement officers detained a driver who drove a carsharing car into a bus shelter in Nizhny Novgorod and killed people. This was announced on February 28 by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region in the Telegram channel.

It is specified that the person involved will be tried under the article "Traffic violation that negligently caused the death of two or more persons." The penalty for the committed actions is up to seven years.

According to the agency, the 18-year-old driver fully admitted his guilt and apologized to the relatives of the dead women.

An accident with a carsharing car occurred on February 27. The driver of the car was a young man who got his driver's license in mid-November 2024. At the time of the accident, the car was traveling at a speed of about 150 km/h. A criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of the road and operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").
