Trump supported the fifth article of NATO, but ruled out its use in Ukraine.

The President USA Donald Trump stated that he approves and supports the article on NATO's collective security, but it will not be needed in discussing the issue of sending a military contingent to the territory "I support this, but I don't think we will have any reason to use this mechanism," he said at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House.
However, Trump stressed that if the British peacekeeping forces are attacked, he will provide them with appropriate assistance.
In addition, the American leader indicated that he intends to end Washington's leading role in financing and assisting NATO. According to him, the United States needs to rebuild its army depots.
"We're helping NATO, but we're helping a lot more than anyone else, and I want this to stop... Now we have to start rebuilding our own warehouses," Trump said.
The US president added that the United States "has paid much more than any other country."
On February 26, Trump announced that the United States is not currently supplying Ukraine defense assistance. According to him, Kiev will have enough weapons to conduct military operations until an agreement is reached on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He stressed that the United States has already transferred about $350 billion to Ukraine.
