The expert spoke about the changes in pensions of Russians in March

Due to the indexation of pensions at the beginning of the year, starting in March, some categories of pensioners may have their pension payments reduced compared to those they received in February. This was announced on February 17 by the Dean of the HSE Faculty of Law, Professor Vadim Vinogradov, in an interview with "Prime".
According to him, this will happen because in January pensioners received a payment indexed by the projected inflation rate of 7.3%, and in February — by the real rate of 9.5% with an additional payment of 2.2%.
He added that since February, pensions of working pensioners have also been indexed. The amount of the additional payment was calculated based on the amount of pension that a pensioner could receive in 2024 without working.
In addition, Vinogradov said that some people, on the contrary, will receive increased pensions in March. The expert noted that this would affect military pensioners, whose payments were increased by 4.4%. Their size in rubles may be affected by rank, position, length of service and some other factors, he noted.
On February 12, Viktor Lyashok, a leading employee of the RANHiGS Institute for Social Analysis and Forecasting, announced that pensioners had received a pension this month href="https://iz.ru/1837856/2025-02-12/ekspert-obiasnil-prichinu-dopolnitelnoi-vyplaty-k-fevralskoi-pensii " rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">additional payment in connection with the January indexation. So, the February pension turned out to be more than the March one. The decision affected 39.3 million Russian pensioners, and the average payout was about 24.9 thousand rubles, Lyashok said.
