Peskov noted the political will of Putin and Trump to restore dialog

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump have shown political will to restore the dialog between the countries, which was significantly weakened under the previous US administration. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on February 25.
"The political will of the heads of state to interact, to restore the dialog, which was reduced virtually to zero under the previous administration, has now been shown," he said.
According to Peskov, the leaders will now have to discuss measures to normalize political relations, including the work of embassies.
"Next on the agenda is the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. And then already, the more so, the Americans themselves have even talked about it, it will be the turn to consider possible projects of trade, economic and investment cooperation," Peskov said.
He added that one of the promising areas of cooperation could be the extraction of rare earth metals. Peskov pointed out that the presidents will have to pass "a serious path" consisting of many actions, as relations between the countries have suffered over the past four years, due to which it will not be possible to "restore them overnight."
The day before, Putin said that Russia is ready to offer U.S. public and private entities to work together on rare earth metals. According to him, Russia is ready to attract foreign partners, including U.S. state structures and U.S. companies, to new regions of the country. At the same time, the Russian leader noted that Moscow was not interested in possible negotiations between the USA and Ukraine on subsoil resources.
