- Media reported the identification of the remains of an Israeli hostage killed by Hamas

The remains of Israeli hostage Shiri Bibas, killed by the Palestinian radical movement Hamas and handed over to Tel Aviv on February 20, have been identified by forensic experts. This was reported by The Times of Israel on February 22.
According to the media outlet, the woman was killed along with her young sons in November 2023.
"The Forum for Hostages and Missing Families issued a statement on behalf of the family of Shiri Bibas after her body was identified overnight by forensic experts and her kibbutz (community in Israel. - Ed.) announced that she was killed while being held captive in the Gaza Strip," the piece said.
February 20, Hamas transferred to Israel the bodies of four dead hostages. It was noted that including the bodies of family members of the previously released Yarden Bibas were transferred.
However, on February 21, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that instead of the body of hostage Bibas, the Palestinian radical movement Hamas handed over the corpse of an unknown resident of Gaza.
On Jan. 19, the first phase of the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas went into effect. During this phase of the deal, which will last 42 days, 33 Israeli hostages and about 1,900 Palestinians are to be released.
