In January 2025, foreigners and illegal migrants committed 17.3% more crimes than in the same time period last year. This became known from the report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on February 21.
The report shows that of all 4.4 thousand offenses committed by foreigners, 3.7 thousand crimes were committed by citizens of CIS countries, which is 20.2% more than in 2024.
The share of crimes committed by natives of the near abroad amounted to 84.2% of the total number of crimes.
Despite this, the number of crimes registered against foreigners and stateless people of the Russian Federation decreased by 16.3%, amounting to 811 cases.
Earlier, officers of the Migration Department together with officers of the Artem Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs deported Uzbek citizens who had committed serious crimes.
