Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov presented the highest state awards of the country - "Gold Star" medals - to the participants of the special military operation (SMO), who showed courage and heroism in the performance of military duty. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense on February 22.
"I know in detail the history of the feat of each of you and can say with confidence that your heroic deeds deserve the deepest respect, are an example for the younger generation and all citizens," the Minister said.
In addition to medals, the fighters also received personalized award weapons.
"Today is a decisive moment for Russia in the confrontation with the collective West. The fate of our great country now depends on the actions of every person, every soldier and officer. We believe in you and your readiness to solve the most difficult tasks," Belousov said during the ceremony.
On the eve of the Day of Defender of the Fatherland, he wished the servicemen good health, vigor, reliable comrades and new achievements in military service.
After that, the soldiers held a meeting with the Minister, during which they discussed the development of social infrastructure in military garrisons and points of permanent deployment of military units. The participants also focused on the topic of improving the system of material rewards for military personnel for the destruction of critical facilities and targets of the enemy.
On February 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Order of Courage to Sergei Dmitriev and Alexander Ivarovsky, members of the volunteer battalion "Tiger", who died with the vice-governor of Primorsky Krai and commander of the unit Sergei Efremov in Kursk region on February 2.
