German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, against the background of US President Donald Trump 's remarks about Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, called for increased pressure on Washington and mentioned in this regard the policy of "Zeitenwende" (change of era, turning point. - Ed.), during which all ties with Russia were severed. She said this on February 21 as part of an election event in Potsdam, her words are quoted by DW News TV channel.

"Three years ago we said: this is a turning point. Now we need a second turning point, no more hesitation and procrastination for the sake of our peace," the FRG foreign Minister said.

At the same time, Berbock, in the context of German-American relations, called for waiting for further developments, as "nothing has been decided yet."

"We will increase pressure on the Americans to realize that they have as much as possible to lose if they stop supporting the liberal democracies of Europe," the diplomat stressed.

German Foreign Minister said that decisions on peace can not be made without taking into account the opinion of Ukraine and Europe, added "Gazeta.Ru".

On the same day, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, in the context of Berbok's statements about helping Ukraine, recalled her reservation about turning Moscow "360 degrees". Sijjarto commented on the publication by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung that Berbok had "blabbed" about the amount of the new EU aid package to Ukraine, hinting at its volume of 700bn euros.
