On Monday, February 24, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking About Important Things" series. It will be devoted to the theme of the small homeland and the importance of each region in the overall future of the country. "Izvestia" tells how the lesson will be held and what will be discussed with students in different classes.

During the lesson, students will learn that in addition to the Motherland, each person has a small homeland - this is the place where he was born, where his relatives and friends live, there is a house and a school where he studies.
It is about the native town or village, its past, its contribution to the present and future of the country will talk to students within the framework of the theme "My Small Motherland". The aim of the lesson is to develop students' ideas about their native land, to form their civic identity and value attitude to the future of their region and the country as a whole.
The announcement of the topic will be presented by Evgeny Egorov, an actor from Nizhny Novgorod. He will talk about the unique features of Russia and his native city, where he spent his childhood. The actor of theater and cinema, People's Artist of Russia Sergey Bezrukov will join the conversation in the format of a video interview.

The lesson structure in all grades will consist of an introduction, main and final parts. The lesson will start with watching an announcement video. On the screen the children will see a virtual map of Russia and get general information about our country - its territory, area and administrative division.
Then the teacher will tell the pupils about their small homeland. During the conversation the pupils will learn about the history of the founding and formation of the region, the most important events that took place here in different years, natural resources and the contribution of the region to the economy and development of the country.
They will talk separately about traditions and culture, as well as about famous countrymen - scientists, writers, artists, inventors, heroes of the Great Patriotic War, who glorified their small homeland far beyond its borders.
In conclusion, they will summarize the results of the conversation and discuss with students how they see the future of their native land and the country as a whole.

"Talking About Matters" is an after-school series launched by the Ministry of Education in 2022. Students are told about the history, state structure and culture of Russia. A number of topics are devoted to family values, topical issues of daily and school life.
Lessons are held every Monday in schools, colleges and technical schools. The last lesson was held on February 17 on the eve of the 280th anniversary of the birth of Russian naval commander Fyodor Ushakov and was called "What it means to serve the Fatherland".
