These are such goodies: a gastronomic map of regions will appear in Russia

Udmurt perepechi, Karelian kalitki, Belev gingerbread, Stolbushinsky sbiten, Maikop vodka - this is just a small part of the 215 regional brands that are on the Gastronomic Map of Russia. It was developed by the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent). Most of the branded products on the map are from the Krasnodar Territory, Tula, Astrakhan and Moscow regions. Such unique products, assigned to a particular territory, are a powerful incentive for the development of tourism in the regions, attracting travelers and the emergence of new routes, said the head of Rospatent Yuri Zubov. What products have become the face of the regions and how they develop tourism - in the material "Izvestia".
What is eaten in Russia
Gastronomic map of regional Russian brands developed by the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), reported "Izvestia" in the department.
A regional brand is a product that is produced in a certain territory, closely related to its history, traditions or geographical features that distinguish it from other similar products. Usually such products have their own special manufacturing technology and unique style.
"Authentic menu of our country has 215 unique food and beverages from 73 regions," the press service of Rospatent said. - These are ancient dishes, which are already several centuries old, as well as "young" products of the XX century - Russian culinary exotics. The Rospatent's navigator will become a convenient guide for making gastronomic tours around the Russian Federation for travelers and gourmets".
Out of more than two hundred brands in the gastronomic map 104 are food, the rest are drinks. Most of them are in the Krasnodar region - 26. These are nine food products, nine brands of wine and eight varieties of mineral water.
Six "food" brands are registered in the Astrakhan and Tula regions, and five more in the Moscow region. Twelve names from the Stavropol Region and six from the Sverdlovsk Region are associated with mineral water. In total, there are 87 "water" brands on the map in 41 regions of the country.
The Central Federal District turned out to be the leader in branded flour products - they are registered in the Tula, Voronezh, Belgorod, Moscow, Bryansk and Vladimir regions. The CFD also has the most patented desserts - gingerbread, figs, marshmallows, marshmallows and marmalade. In 2024, for example, Zarayskaya kovrizhka is registered.
And Russia's "bar list" includes Dagestani cognacs, Kuban, Crimean wines, beer and ciders from the Sverdlovsk, Ryazan, Kurgan and Tambov regions, as well as Adygea and Mordovia. The situation with vodka is unusual - in addition to the two territorial ones, Maikop and Tyumen, there is a brand "Russian vodka" covering the whole territory of the country.
Regional brands are an effective tool for attracting investment, Yuri Zubov, head of Rospatent, told Izvestia.
- Unlike trademarks, the rights to which only their owners have, regional brands stimulate the production of goods by local producers in the regions, krays and republics," he said.
New and old regional brands
Among the "freshest" products are Karelian strawberries, Baidar honey from Sevastopol and Bakchar honeysuckle from the Tomsk region, registered only in November 2024.
- Since the beginning of 2024 Rospatent has registered 22 regional products, - said Yuri Zubov. - And for the last four years - more than 50.
Among the new regional brands on the gastronomic map are Kuban early potatoes, Sernurskaya Legend cheese from Mari El, Mozhaysky milk from the Moscow region, Melitopol cherries from the Zaporozhye region, Kholmov strawberries from the Crimea and Leningrad "pyshki" ponchiki.
In the Astrakhan region there are registered brands of dried wobla and sturgeon caviar, in the Far East there are patents for Kamchatka seals, Olyutor herring and sea cabbage, in the Murmansk region - for cod, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - for Sosva herring. In addition, the Russian North has brands associated with cloudberry and venison.
Authentic meat cooking is represented in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Komi, Chuvashia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Bashkiria and the Astrakhan Region. Branded products made from the meat of horses, camels and red deer have been patented here.
Among the "old" Russian brands, the history of which dates back hundreds and even thousands of years, are Udmurt perepechi (basket flatbreads with stuffing, in their current form have existed for more than 500 years), venison from Yamal (the history of the product dates back two thousand years), Karelian kalitki (pies made of rye unleavened dough with various fillings, appeared at the turn of the XVI-XVII centuries),Stolbushinsky sbiten (it began to be brewed at the end of the XVIII century), Belev gingerbread, which are made in the Tula region since the end of the XIX century.
How food souvenirs influence tourism
Thepresence of universally recognized unique brands in the regions stimulates the emergence of new tourist centers and routes on the map of Russia and becomes a provider of tourism, said Yuri Zubov.
- Thanks to folk arts and crafts became popular excursions to Zhostovo factory in the Moscow region, bus tours Shuya-Kholui-Palekh in the Ivanovo region, art space "Mordovian moraine oak", - he said. - Udmurtia has been hosting a folklore and gastronomy festival since 2016, where perepechi is the main dish. Edible regional brands are an occasion for gastronomic and ethnographic tours across Russia.
Gastronomic tourism in Russia has always been popular, and now, along with the restart of the tourism industry, this direction is experiencing another round of development, Irina Osadchaya, Deputy Director General for Communications Projects of the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "National Priorities" told Izvestia.
-Local gastronomic brands are becoming new points of attraction in the regions, they become popular and, of course, have a positive impact on tourist flow and tourism development in general, - she said. - Every tourist today, planning his trip, necessarily includes familiarization with local cuisine, looking for information about national dishes, local products and restaurants.
She reminded that on the national tourist portal "Travel.RF" in almost every material you can find recommendations for gastrotourists: what local dishes to try and where.
-State support of local brands is also important: producers apply for it to the regional centers "My Business", which work under the federal project "Small and Medium Entrepreneurship", - she said. - For example, the Agrostartup grant is very popular among farmers and cheese makers, thanks to which local production is developing all over Russia.
President of the Association of Gastronomic Tourism of Russia Andrey Paramonov is also sure that unique local products become magnets for travelers.
- People like to travel for the flavors. For example, tourists go to Tula for gingerbread, to Kazan for chak-chak," he said. - Gastronomic festivals, fairs, tasting tours devoted to branded products are appearing. Restaurants and cafes are starting to use local products on their menus, creating an authentic experience for tourists. And producers of local brands get an increase in sales, which stimulates small businesses and creates jobs.
He also noted that support for such brands at regional levels should be systematic: grants and subsidies for producers of local products, benefits for small businesses engaged in traditional crafts and gastronomy, assistance with promotion and advertising, for example, through festivals, exhibitions, souvenir shops. Infrastructural support is also needed - the creation of museums, tasting areas, factory tours.
As an example, Andrey Paramonov cited the Tula region, which actively promoted the brand "Tula gingerbread" through museums, excursions, creation of recognizable packaging and registration of the geographical name, and the Vologda region officially registered the brand "Vologda butter", ensured quality control and organized export.
Gastronomy is one of the additional incentives for attracting foreign tourists, the Center for Strategic Research told Izvestia. For example, among Arab tourists, sweets are popular, and among their favorites are honey cake and pancakes. Arab guests are close to the cuisine offered in the North Caucasus and Tatarstan.
In 2024, the expert noted, gastronomic tourism in Russia continued to gain popularity, which is confirmed by the growth of tourist traffic, increased interest in wine tours and increased attention to gastronomic objects.
Izvestia was informed by the Ministry of Economic Development that within the framework of a single subsidy under the national project "Tourism and Hospitality", which is allocated to the regions for the development of tourism, the subjects can allocate funds for holding tourist events, including gastrofestivals. This attracts guests and contributes to the growth of tourist trips. In addition, the gastronomic component is one of the key components in the formation of national tourist routes. They allow travelers to see the most beautiful places of the country, get acquainted with the culture, traditions and local cuisine of the regions, the department said.
