There were 230 road accidents in Russia over the past day
Over the past day, 230 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 29 people were killed and 272 injured. 22 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Thursday, February 20, in the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Thus, in Chelyabinsk at night, a 29-year-old driver of a passenger car drove in a prohibited place on the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with a truck. He and four of his passengers were killed in the accident. The fifth passenger of the passenger car was hospitalized with injuries. The driver's license was not previously issued to the perpetrator of the accident.
As a result of 86 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, seven people died, 22 more were injured of varying severity. Among the victims were 18 child pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 40 occurred at crosswalks and 46 - outside their zone of action.
On Wednesday, 16 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person died, another 22 road users required medical assistance. The cause of 12 accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles. With the participation of minors 26 accidents were registered, in which 29 young road users were injured, including 11 passengers. No children were killed.
In addition, in some regions of the country, temporary restrictions and closures of traffic for all or certain categories of vehicles continue due to unfavorable weather conditions. For example, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania from early yesterday morning due to bad weather on the neighboring side of the country the movement of trucks on the federal highway A-161 "Vladikavkaz - Nizhny Lars - border with the Republic of Georgia" is temporarily restricted. Since the evening due to snowfall traffic on the federal highway A-164 "Transkam" in the direction to the exit from the Russian Federation has been stopped.
In Murmansk region due to unfavorable weather conditions - snow and snowstorms - the traffic on the regional highway "Kola - Serebryanskie HPPs" from 32 to 136 km and "auto-access to the village of Teriberka" is temporarily stopped. In the Chukotka Autonomous District for the same reasons temporarily stopped traffic on the 83-kilometer section of the regional highway "Egvekinot - Cape Schmidt" from 11 km to 94 km.
The State Automobile Inspectorate recommended motorists when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions to follow the weather forecast and media information from the places of road closures and traffic restrictions. In case of a negative forecast, strong wind and snowfall, it is necessary to refrain from using personal vehicles for a while, and in urban conditions - to use the services of public transport.

On the eve of the President of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RUIA) Evgeny Ufimtsev said that the average payment on CMTPL insurance in 2024 increased by 13% and amounted to 99.96 thousand rubles compared to 88.79 thousand rubles in 2023. The average MTPL premium at the end of 2024 amounted to Br7,616, down 2.6% compared to 2023 (Br7,817).
