The crew of a T-72B3 tank of the Novorossiysk paratroopers has destroyed a dugout with infantry of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the Orekhovskoye direction of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone in Zaporizhzhya Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 19.

"Crews of a separate tank battalion of the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain Battalion of the Airborne Troops (Airborne Troops) from the Dnepr troop grouping, acting in the interests of the Airborne Troops' assault units in the Orekhov direction in the Zaporizhzhya region, are working close to the line of contact and providing support to the airborne assault units, inflicting powerful fire strikes on the enemy," the Defense Ministry's press service said.

During the performance of combat missions, the tankers use the method of firing both direct fire and from closed firing positions according to the received coordinates. Depending on the conditions, the tank crew hits targets both in direct line of sight and at a considerable distance from themselves.

"Even if we are firing from a closed firing position, the mechanic at that time, having a small view, never looks around. He always has to look straight ahead and observe," said the mechanic-driver of a T-72B3 tank with the call sign Argon.

A day earlier, a representative of Uralvagonzavod told about new modifications of the T-90M tank. The latest modification implements the principle of differentiated armor: the vehicle received the Relikt dynamic protection, lattice screens, and means of electronic countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
