The water pump is one of the key elements of an engine, the failure of which can lead to serious repairs or the need to replace the engine. Andrei Egarmin, Avilon Legend's service and spare parts director, told Gazeta.Ru about it.

"Clogging of the cooling pump leads to the cessation of coolant circulation. Engine overheating is the most common consequence of this problem. If you do not pay attention to it in time, the cylinder head will deform from the high temperature," the expert warned.

Pump failure can lead to a rupture of the timing belt or chain. This can then cause serious problems with the motor, including valve bending. All of this can only be corrected with a major overhaul, and in some cases the engine will need to be replaced altogether.

"To decrease the efficiency of the pump and its failure are caused by the accumulation of rust, deposits and dirt inside the cooling system when the coolant is not replaced in a timely manner. If the level of antifreeze is too low or it has lost its properties, the pump will also run dry, which accelerates its wear, explained the expert," - said Andrei Egarmin.
