There were 203 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day
Over the past 24 hours, 203 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 14 people were killed and 242 injured. 11 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Tuesday, February 18, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 58 accidents involving pedestrians, three people died, another 55 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 14 child pedestrians, four of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 29 occurred at crosswalks and the same number outside their zone of action.
On the roads of the Russian Federation there were 13 accidents involving buses, in which there were no fatalities, but 17 road users required medical assistance. Seven accidents involving buses were caused by violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers. In six cases other road users caused the accident. With participation of minors 27 accidents were registered, in them 27 young road users were injured, including 12 passengers. No children were killed.
In addition, in a number of regions of the country, temporary restrictions and closures of traffic for all or certain categories of vehicles continue due to unfavorable weather conditions. Thus, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania since yesterday evening due to bad weather on the neighboring side of the country the movement of trucks on the federal highway A-161 "Vladikavkaz - Nizhny Lars - border with the Republic of Georgia" in the direction to the exit from the Russian Federation is temporarily restricted.
In Kurgan region due to unfavorable weather conditions - snowfall and gusty wind - the movement of buses and trucks is temporarily restricted on 2 sections of the federal highway "Irtysh" from 289 to 466 km and from 396 to 480 km when approaching the city of Ishim. In Krasnoyarsk region due to snow, snowstorms and gusty winds traffic is temporarily stopped on a 17-kilometer section of the regional highway "Norilsk - Norilsk Airport" from 5 to 22 km.
The State Automobile Inspectorate recommended motorists to follow the weather forecast and media information from the places of traffic closure or restriction when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions. In case of a negative forecast, strong wind and snowfall it is necessary to refrain from using personal vehicles for a while, and in urban conditions - to use the services of public transport.
In conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, especially in the early morning, evening or night time, the State Automobile Inspectorate urged not to exceed the authorized speed limit and avoid risky driving behavior. In addition, before leaving, you should always check the technical condition of the vehicle, the operation of lights, "wipers", braking system, the availability of tires in season and the filling of the fuel tank.
"We urge drivers in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, rearrangement, turn, turn and stop. Not only your personal life and health, but also the lives and health of your passengers and other road users depend on compliance with all these elementary measures of motor transport safety," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
The day before it was reported that the total amount of fines for traffic violations in 2024 amounted to 176.3 billion rubles. A total of 255 million rulings were issued, and 93% of them were issued automatically by photo-video fixation complexes.
