Spain's prime minister calls Russia-U.S. talks a "window of opportunity"

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has demanded active participation of Kiev and the European Union (EU) in the peace talks on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. This was reported by the publication El País on February 17.

"A window of opportunity is opening because the United States administration is laying the groundwork for conversations leading to peace to begin. We welcome these talks," the Spanish prime minister said after meeting at an emergency summit in Paris.

Sanchez said the talks, which are about to begin, should ensure a just and lasting peace.
