Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov began his response to a question from CNN correspondent Frederik Pleitgen with a subtle diplomatic trolling about Denmark and Greenland. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 17.

"It was trolling not so much Frederik, but, as I think, the leaders of the EU and some of its countries, who are actively trying to 'sit at the negotiating table' to protect the 'territorial integrity' of Ukraine," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Zakharova noted that at the same time, Denmark, which is part of the European Union (EU), has big problems. According to the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, the country is "trying to snatch" part of its territory.

In addition, Zakharova advised EU leaders to discuss the issue of Denmark and Greenland at the negotiating table in Copenhagen.

Earlier in the day, Sergei Lavrov joked about Greenland in response to a US reporter about concessions on Ukraine. He also suggested that the representatives of the United States study history more carefully, as concessions to Kiev by the Russian Federation had already been made when the USSR was formed.
