WP told about Europe's plans to send more than 25,000 military personnel to Ukraine

European leaders are developing a strategy to send 25,000-30,000 military personnel to Ukraine to provide security guarantees after a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This was reported by the US newspaper The Washington Post on 17 February.
According to the joint plan of the European countries, several brigades of 25,000 to 30,000 servicemen will be sent to Ukraine to be deployed far away from the contact line in case of an escalation of the conflict.
At the same time, the publication reported that France may send about 10 thousand troops, but other European allies are facing a shortage of military personnel. It is also pointed out that the US has ruled out its presence in Ukraine, but the team of US President Donald Trump is considering helping the Europeans to deploy their contingent.
According to the newspaper, European countries have requested intelligence equipment from the States, as well as potential air support or air defense assets.
On the same day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his country was ready to deploy its military in Ukraine if it would guarantee the security of the eastern European state.
For his part, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk later said that Warsaw was not ready to send its military contingent to help the Kiev regime, but would support countries that would do so.
The Associated Press reported on February 15 that a group of political elites from the UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term of office expires in May 2024) discussed the possible dispatch of troops to Ukraine. It was specified that first of all, the composition and role of the forces that might be sent depend on whether Moscow and Kiev can agree on the terms in the course of negotiations.
