- The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasts further development of Russian national brands

In a very short time, Russian businesses were able not only to fill the vacated space in shopping centers (RCs), but also to carry out a complete rebranding and adapt the concept of their business models. Now it is Russian brands that dominate in Russia's leading shopping centers. This was told to "Izvestia" on February 17 in the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
A number of foreign brands have independently decided to leave Russia in 2022-2023. This practice is unfair, as contractual obligations to shopping centers on the lease of space were violated, which led to a decrease in their occupancy rate.
In addition, the press service said that no foreign brand has been "expelled" from the Russian market.
"Today, the occupancy rate of shopping centers has reached pre-Kovidnaya values: the vacancy rate is at the level of 8-10% across Russia. Moreover, the traffic has returned to the level of 2022, when international brands were fully present in the market," the press service explained.
At the same time, MAAG said that they always support and welcome healthy competition, as the increase of offers on the market benefits buyers, who will get more opportunities to choose.
"The mentioned trend for the development of Russian national brands, supported by the state, will continue. In particular, the bill "On the Russian, or Russian, shelf" is aimed at this. The task to encourage or stimulate the return of foreign brands in any way is not relevant. Those foreign brands that have remained in Russia continue to operate, and the vacated niches will continue to be replaced by brands of Russian manufacturers", - said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
On the same day, analysts of the Kokoc Group platform predicted a massive return of foreign companies to Russia. It is noted that in 2025 may return 350 foreign companies that left the Russian market in 2022. However, some large companies may face serious problems when returning to Russia, and the most at risk are brands from the category of everyday goods.
