The Council of the Russian Federation said the United States canceled the NATO decision on Ukraine's membership in the alliance

TheUSA has effectively canceled NATO's decision on Ukraine 's membership in the alliance with its statements. This was stated by the head of the Security Council's commission for information policy, Aleksey Pushkov, on 17 February.

In his opinion, the candidate for the German chancellorship, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz "is talking complete nonsense". So Pushkov commented on the opinion of Merz that "one country can not cancel the general decision" of the last NATO summit on the availability of Ukraine to join NATO.

"Merz is simply ridiculous <...> Especially when "one country" is the United States. And the U.S. has already said that they do not see Ukraine in NATO, than already canceled the de facto decision of the summit," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Pushkov expressed the opinion that now "it is the United States that now manages NATO" and also has a decisive voice in the North Atlantic Alliance.
