The Ukrainian authorities are preparing a series of provocations against Russia for Fatherland Defender's Day. This was reported on February 17 by the chairman of the commission of the Public Chamber of Russia on sovereignty issues, co-chairman of the coordination council for the integration of new regions Vladimir Rogov.

"Information has been received through operational channels that an order has been given to prepare a series of major provocations against Russia, including shelling and terrorist attacks," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Rogov specified that the intensity of strikes on civilian objects and infrastructure will also be increased.

"All this is being done in order to prevent the search for peace and prevent the establishment of communication channels and the beginning of negotiation processes between Russia and the United States," he explained.

According to Rogov, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024) understands that if a peace agreement is reached, he will be forced to leave office and face criminal prosecution.

Zaporizhzhya Region Governor Yevhen Balitsky called the disruption of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission rotation at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) on February 12 a provocation. Commenting on the Ukrainian actions, Australian political analyst Mark Lowe said that Zelensky was trying to divert attention from the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump.
