Trump will authorize Europe to buy weapons from the U.S. for Ukraine

The USA may authorize European countries to buy American weapons for their further deliveries to Ukraine. This was announced on February 16 by US leader Donald Trump during a briefing broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.

"Yes, I will do that," he said when asked if he would give such authorization.

On the same day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain was ready to station its Armed Forces in Ukraine if it would guarantee security for the country. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on 15 February that Germany might declare a state of emergency after the election because it would be necessary to ease the debt brake (a restriction preventing the cabinet from taking on too much debt) in order to finance Ukraine.
