Car dealers cut prices for used cars in Russia

According to the results of January 2025, the average cost of cars with mileage from dealers decreased by 2% for the month, to 1.96 million rubles, but at private sellers prices continue to grow - the average cost of such cars on classifides increased by 3% compared to December and amounted to 1.29 million rubles. This was reported to "Izvestia" on February 17 by specialists of "Auto.ru Business".

Experts explained the difference in the average price of cars at dealers and private sellers by the quality of the sold cars. For example, dealers buy for sale more liquid models in better technical condition. Used cars of premium brands can also be found at them more often.

Analysts also noticed that in January, the number of proposals for the sale of cars with mileage increased by 2% relative to December. The growth is due to private sellers, while at dealers the number of offers is decreasing.

"This is primarily due to the fact that buyback of used cars is associated with borrowing. And with the current key rate for car business, many deals have become simply unprofitable, and dealers are consciously reducing the volume of redemption", - said the director of development and sales "Auto.ru Business" Daniil Shkurygin.

The best-selling model in the economy class in January was Lada Granta (an average of Br663.3 thousand), which was ahead of Lada Vesta and Kia Rio. In the middle class, Toyota Camry (Br2.8 million) leads in sales, followed by Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Creta. The premium class is represented by BMW 5 Series (Br4.1 million), as well as Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 3 Series.
