Analysts named the most popular diesel cars among Russians

Great Wall Poer pickup truck became the best-selling diesel car in Russia at the end of 2024 with the result of 4.7 thousand cars sold. It turned out to be the bestseller in the segment for the second year in a row, reported the analytical agency "Avtostat" on February 11.

The top three in popularity also included pickup trucks - domestic Sollers ST6, built on the basis of the Chinese model, as well as Great Wall Poer KingKong. x results in 2024 amounted to 1.6 thousand and 1.4 thousand units, respectively. The rest of the models did not reach 1 thousand units.

According to the agency, a total of 20 thousand cars with diesel engines were sold in 2024. This is 34% less than in 2023. The total share of "diesels" in the Russian car market has more than halved - from 2.9% (in 2023) to 1.3% (in 2024).

The leader in diesel passenger car sales in Russia is the Chinese brand Great Wall, with 6.1 thousand units in 2024 (+29% vs. 2023). The second place in the brand rating was taken by Toyota, which is not officially represented in Russia (2.6 thousand units; -37%), and the third line was occupied by Russian Sollers (1.6 thousand units). Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai, which a year earlier was the leader among the brands in sales of "diesel" cars, crossed the mark of 1 thousand sold diesel cars at the end of last year.
