There were 188 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day
Over the past 24 hours, 188 traffic accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 19 people were killed and 244 injured. Three of the dead were pedestrians, the rest were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Tuesday, February 11, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
With the participation of buses on the roads of Russia recorded 14 accidents, in which there were no fatalities, but 29 people were injured, one of whom was a child. Four accidents were caused by violations of traffic rules by bus drivers. In 10 cases auto accidents were caused by the fault of other road users.
Thus, in Primorsky Krai on a regional highway the driver of a truck with a semi-trailer on a downhill slope failed to cope with the control and allowed the semi-trailer to skid into the oncoming lane, with the subsequent collision with an intercity bus carrying 20 passengers moving there. As a result of the accident, the driver and six passengers of the bus were injured and hospitalized. Another nine passengers of the bus, including a three-year-old girl, were sent for outpatient treatment after medical treatment.
The traffic police urged truck drivers to observe traffic rules and driving discipline. When driving a truck with a semi-trailer it is necessary to correctly assess its inertia depending on speed and load, its dimensions, the state and width of the roadway, terrain and the possibility of skidding the semi-trailer on downhill slopes. And also take into account the density of traffic flow, dimensions and speed of vehicles in their own, and most importantly - on the oncoming lanes. The agency also urged not to create emergency situations on the road, to refuse risky manner of driving, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers, to take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic signals, to comply with the permitted speed limit.
In addition, over the past day with the participation of minors registered 23 traffic accidents. In them 22 young road users were injured, including 10 child passengers and 11 pedestrians. One teenage motorcyclist died.
Thus, in the Stavropol Territory on the federal highway R-217 "Kavkaz" in the evening a 15-year-old schoolboy without a driver's license and a motorcycle helmet was driving a motorcycle not registered in the prescribed manner. He drove on the side of the road intended for oncoming traffic and hit a reinforced concrete barrier fence separating traffic flows of opposite directions, after which he collided with a truck moving towards him. As a result of the accident, the minor driver of the motorcycle died.
"We urge parents to strictly control and suppress attempts of schoolchildren to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude the possibility for them to access the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motorcycles without the appropriate right and driving skills. Remember that the lack of control over the behavior and leisure time of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or even death of young road users. In addition, we draw the attention of parents to the administrative responsibility for allowing children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category to drive motor vehicles," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of children's road traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
Earlier in the day it was reported that at the end of 2024 in Russia slowed the growth in the number of fines for traffic violations, issued with the help of stationary complexes of photo-video fixation. It amounted to 7.2%. A total of 237 million rulings were issued during the year. In 2019-2023, the dynamics was higher and ranged from 10 to 20%.
