For 51% of Russians surveyed, Valentine's Day is an ordinary day on the calendar. However, many people are not spared from this ambiguous holiday: 37% of women and 31% of men indulge in the romantic atmosphere of this day. But there are also those who are annoyed by February 14, and more often they are men (18% vs. 12% of girls), according to the results of a study of the dating service Mamba, which were presented to "Izvestia" on February 12.

At the same time, more than half of Russians (55% of men and 54% of women) consider Valentine's Day a foreign holiday. About a third of respondents are sure that love should be shown every day, not once a year. In addition, 15-17% see the holiday as just marketing.

At the same time, a quarter of the respondents admitted that loneliness is especially acute on this day. And for 20% of men and 23% of girls the holiday becomes an incentive to find a soul mate. However, almost half of Russians (46% of men and 47% of women) claim that the holiday does not affect them in any way.

Most respondents (54%) spend February 14 in the usual rhythm: work, home, TV series. At the same time, 22% of girls please themselves with pleasant trifles - shopping or sweets, and 15% of men actively use dating apps in search of a companion. There are also those who save themselves from loneliness through work and sports: 11% of men and 7% of women.

The dating service also told about the trend of "couple on holiday", when people meet only on weekends and holidays. It turned out that 45% of men are ready to try this option, with 9% already having such experience. Women are more skeptical of the idea: 51% consider it strange, and only 26% are ready for such an experiment.

In addition, 35% of men and 22% of women admitted that they are specifically looking for a couple for February 14. And 15-16% believe that this is the day when the chances of meeting love increase. According to the statistics of the service, about a week before this holiday, the activity of users increases: the number of new correspondence increases by 17%, the number of likes - by 14%, sending gifts - by 22%. But such changes are observed among users from 18 to 30 years old and only in large Russian cities.

Earlier, on February 11, it was reported that 63% of women and 48% of men are embarrassed by Valentine's gifts. According to a study of flowers and gifts marketplace Flowwow and dating service Twinby, only 27% of respondents exchanged cards on Valentine's Day. At the same time, girls were in the center of attention twice as often as guys - 34% vs. 17%.
