Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the staff of the Far Eastern Higher Combined Armed Forces Command School named after Marshal of the Soviet Union K.K. Rokossovsky on the 85th anniversary of the institution and noted its contribution to military education. The corresponding telegram was published on February 11 on the Kremlin website.

"Since its establishment in 1940, your university has done a lot for the development of the system of domestic higher military education, made a significant contribution to the training of qualified officers, educated a whole pleiad of brilliant professionals who wrote many bright pages in the legendary military history of the motherland," Putin said.

The head of state emphasized that the pride of the school is its teachers and graduates who fought in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and worked in hot spots in the post-war years. In addition, many of the school's pupils and teachers are currently involved in a special military operation, the telegram said.

"Today the school is one of the important, key educational centers of the Ground Forces," Putin said.

In conclusion, the Russian president wished the staff of the school health and success in service.

Earlier, on February 11, Putin posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia to Sergey Efremov, vice-governor of Primorsky Krai and former commander of the volunteer battalion "Tiger". He died in the special operation zone on February 2 while returning from a combat mission.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
