Most Russians reported embarrassment over valentine's gifts

Valentine's cards cause embarrassment for 63% of women and 48% of men. According to a study of the flowers and gifts marketplace Flowwow and the dating service Twinby, the results of which were reported by Izvestia on February 11, only 27% of respondents exchanged cards on Valentine's Day. At the same time, girls were in the center of attention twice as often as guys - 34% vs. 17%.
The next most popular emotions when receiving a Valentine's card were excitement and the desire to guess the sender: they were experienced by 56.5% of survey participants. At the same time, girls were more often interested in the identity of the sender - 35% vs. 28% of guys. Only 2% of respondents were annoyed by this tradition.
In addition, half of the male respondents have never received a valentine at school. Among women, every third had never received a card. At the same time, 58% of respondents said that they had received cards. Among those who did not receive valentine's cards at school, more than half of them later began to ignore Valentine's Day. However, over time the attitude to the holiday has changed: now only a quarter of them are indifferent to this day. In general, 33% of respondents do not celebrate this holiday, and 67% do not mind to add romance to this day, specified in the materials of the study.
41% of respondents describe their ideal Valentine's Day as a romantic evening. Small presentations and attention to loved ones are favored by 33%. 17% limit themselves to giving valentines to all their loved ones. And another 31% of respondents would like not to notice this day at all. There is a correlation between age and wishes for this date: young people 18-30 years old more often choose flowers, cards and romantic dates as a gift, and people over 35 years old perceive this holiday as a formality and are limited to a valentine in social networks.
Half of Russians outside of relationships believe that this holiday passes them by. However, 34% send valentine memes to their friends, and 8% make a mailing to all their loved ones. Only 7% give flowers or sweets. At the same time, women are twice as likely to congratulate their loved ones if they are not in a relationship, while men without a couple mostly ignore this holiday.
Young people aged 18-24 are happy to send Valentine's memes to their friends and see no reason to ignore Valentine's Day even if they are alone. But respondents from 25 to 40 years old are mostly of a different opinion: without a relationship, this holiday is not so interesting to them. However, people who have already had a serious relationship in their life, almost three times more often show care on this day - make their relatives and friends happy, even if they are now without a partner: 8% of respondents who have had several long-term relationships, congratulate their dear people with flowers, while people who have not had such experience, choose this option only in 3% of cases.
More than 2 thousand people from all over Russia took part in the survey.
Last year it was reported that in the run-up to Valentine's Day, most people in the country plan to buy flowers (55%), jewelry (48%) and gadgets (47%). According to the SDEK survey, a third of Russians wanted to send a gift by courier with a greeting card. At the same time, almost every second respondent (47%) considered an acceptable cost of a gift to a colleague or acquaintance to be from 500 to 1 thousand rubles, and 29% of those who answered the questions were ready to spend on a pleasant surprise from 1 to 3 thousand rubles.
